FTTx system by the central office equipment OLT, the user terminal equipment ONU / ONT, optical distribution network ODN three parts. As an important part of the FTTx system, the ODN is an optical transmission physical channel between the OLT and the ONU / ONT, covering a range of 20 km or more from the OLT room to the user ONT, usually by fiber optic cable, optical connector, lightSplitter and the installation of these devices connected to the composition of equipment.

The ODN consists of five parts: the feeder segment, the cable distribution point, the wiring segment, the cable access point, and the subscriber segment. From the ODF rack of the central office room to the cable distribution point of the feeder line as the backbone cable to achieve long-distance coverage; from the cable distribution point to the cable access point of the wiring segment, the feeder cable along the user area of the nearest fiber distribution;From the cable access point to the terminal of the subscriber segment, to achieve fiber entry.
